In the wake of ex-Cyclone Alfred, which left debris scattered along the shores of Evans Head, Arlo and Reign took it upon themselves to clean up the beach, completely unprompted and full of enthusiasm. Their quiet determination and community spirit caught the attention of many, including some of the Summerland staff, through a story featured on indynr.com.
To recognise their efforts, Jack Torrance from our Evans Head branch, who also happens to be one of our dedicated B Corp Ambassadors, met with the boys to present them with $200 gift vouchers and a few Summerland eco-goodies, including pencils and reusable straws. Their mother, Demi Fraser, told us how surprised and excited they were by the gesture, ‘They were surprised when I told them the bank wanted to gift them something for their clean-up efforts.’
This moment of recognition was particularly fitting, as it took place during March – B Corp Month. As a certified B Corporation, Summerland Bank is proud to use business as a force for good. Our ambassadors, like Jack, are here to support our customers, team and the broader community in understanding the value of B Corp Certification and how it strengthens our environmental and social impact.
Arlo and Reign’s initiative is a powerful reminder that anyone, no matter their age, can create positive change. We’re proud to support their contribution and hope their story inspires others to take small actions that make a big difference.
At Summerland Bank, we’re passionate about building strong communities and protecting the environment we all share. That’s why we were so inspired by two local boys, Arlo and Reign, whose recent actions perfectly captured these values in motion.
