One way we uphold this commitment is through our long-standing partnership with Southern Cross University, offering the Rising Stars Scholarship. Since its inception in 1994, this program has helped nurture local talent, empowering students to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to our region.
Education is a cornerstone of community development, and the Rising Stars Scholarship exemplifies this belief. Each year, we proudly award a two-year scholarship to support a new Bachelor of Business and Enterprise student at Southern Cross University. By providing financial assistance, mentorship, and encouragement, we aim to alleviate some of the challenges students face, allowing them to focus on excelling in their studies and achieving their goals.
This year, we are excited to welcome Isabella Dowd as the 2024 Rising Stars Scholarship recipient. Isabella will be undertaking her Bachelor of Business and Enterprise at Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast campus, where she has already demonstrated exceptional promise and academic excellence.
Isabella’s accomplishments were formally recognised at the 2024 Student Excellence Awards Evening, held at Southern Cross University Gold Coast. Attended by Kit Hearn, Summerland Bank’s Digital Marketing Specialist, the event was a celebration of all scholarship recipients hard work and dedication, while Summerland Bank was also awarded and celebrated for its contribution to the university, as well as the ongoing work we continue within the wider Northern Rivers region, by Southern Cross University Vice-Chancellor, Tyrone Carlin.
Isabella’s academic record, already marked by several high distinctions, speaks volumes about her determination and potential. She embodies the values we hold dear at Summerland Bank — integrity, excellence, and a commitment to making a difference.
For 30 years, the Rising Stars Scholarship has been a vital part of our ongoing partnership with Southern Cross University.
