Late last year, we had the privilege of connecting with Year 12 Business Studies students from the Living Academy at Lismore’s Living School.
These students, currently operating out of Southern Cross University while their premises are rebuilt following the 2022 floods, are an inspiring example of resilience and adaptability. At Summerland Bank, we’re passionate about supporting our local community and helping to shape the future of young minds.
Kerry and Bruce from Summerland Bank joined the students to share practical insights into the role of social sustainability in business. By bringing industry perspectives into the classroom, the aim was to complement the exceptional work of teaching staff and provide students with a deeper understanding of real-world applications.
The students were engaged and inquisitive, raising thought-provoking questions about how businesses can balance growth with community support. Their curiosity and enthusiasm reaffirmed the importance of connecting with young people to inspire socially responsible business practices.
A special thanks to Emma, the Living School’s dedicated Business Studies teacher, for welcoming us into the classroom and for her commitment to guiding these talented students.
