Better banking, stronger communities.
At Summerland Bank, our purpose is “better banking, stronger communities.” As a customer-owned business, we prioritise supporting our local community—it’s at the heart of who we are.
We’re also proud to be a certified B Corp, which means we’re committed to making a tangible impact across various sectors within the communities we serve. Our focus? Sustainability and social responsibility.
Supporting our community.
Sponsorship: Bringing communities together.
At Summerland Bank, we believe in the power of connection. That’s why we proudly sponsor events across the region, especially after the challenges posed by Covid, floods, and remote work. Events like the Bangalow Billycart Derby, Lismore Lantern Parade, Beef Week, and Grafton Jacaranda Festival allow people to reconnect and find joy and hope, together.
Education: Investing in futures.
Since 1994, Summerland Bank has been a pioneer in the scholarship program at Southern Cross University. Each year, we offer new scholarships to help students advance their careers. In 2024, we collaborated with five other mutual banks to establish the Customer-Owned Banking Scholarship at Southern Cross University.
Sporting: Nurturing our kids.
We’re passionate about local sports! Summerland supports sports clubs, providing financial aid and resources to engage young people in our region. In 2024, soccer and rugby clubs received our assistance, promoting active lifestyles and community involvement.
Healing: Honoring community heroes.
During the 2022 natural disasters, the ‘Tinnie Army’—a group of small boat owners—performed countless rescues in Lismore, saving lives. In recognition of their community contribution, Summerland Bank is supporting a mural to be painted in the heart of Lismore to honour their efforts.
Volunteering: Making a difference.
Many of our wonderful team members actively volunteer in the community through our Volunteer Leave Program. They assist various community organisations, charities, and local clubs, embodying our commitment to community well-being.
Financial literacy: Empowering awareness.
Scams are a real threat. That’s why we provides free scam awareness education to school students, seniors, and community groups. Learn how to spot scams, protect yourself, and what actions to take if you’re ever caught out.
