Several flood scams have emerged in the wake of the recent flood disaster. Sadly, it is common for scammers to try and take advantage of people during a time of uncertainty.
“Recently there has been an increase in the number of customers coming in to advise or check an online payment, only to find that they have been caught up in an online scam. It's so disheartening to hear that so many people are not aware of how to check or look out for these types of scams”, said Jenny Le Neveu, Nimbin Branch Team Leader.
Jenny has joined with the Nimbin Neighbourhood Centre, who provide IT and computer access for the local community and assist with government services. Together we are offering a seminar on Tuesday 3 May, to help the local community identify these types of scams. The seminar is free and open to all who would like to attend.
